In today’s day and age, your own personal development is one of the most important life factors to consider while doing anything. Gone are the days when being mediocre was enough, nowadays in this day and age of innovation you really have to be the very best in anything that you do, and this is reflected in your personal life as well. The marker by which one usually measures his or her personal life is through their happiness, and an overall development of oneself is the first yardstick to consider towards leading a happy life.

1. Look at your surroundings: There are a lot of things on offer in our day to day life and one’s happiness is directly related to it. Make it a habit to explore new avenues and challenges in your day to day life, so that you not only develop yourself but also make yourself an asset to the society.

2. Read more: All the great men and women of our time have one trait in common. They are all voracious readers, and this is reflected in the way they speak and interact with others. You should make it a habit to read at least one new book each month so that you gain a broader perspective of the world, which will also in turn enrich your personality. Start slow, and then gradually increase the quantity you read.

3. Take care of your fitness: There is an ancient adage which says, “Early to bed and early to rise, makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise.” There has never been a truer saying than this. The first criteria for happiness is a healthy body, because who is happy if they are sick? So, plan every day’s regime well in advance. Get at least 30 minutes of exercise every day to stay healthy, sleep at least 6-8 hours every night and take care of what you eat. Avoid heavy food during dinner and try to eat a good breakfast to stay fit and happy.

4. Relationships: Maintain healthy relationships with your co-workers, family, and friends. It is of the utmost importance to have an open-minded relationship with your better half to lead a happy lifestyle. Invest in time with your partner and friends so that both parties come out winners. This will not only increase your self-confidence but make life happier for everyone around you.

5. Spend on experiences: Take breaks and travel the world, do adventure sports, because these will be a new experience for you and will not only enhance your knowledge and skill sets but will give you stories to tell for a whole lifetime. No one is unhappy traveling or skydiving. So, make plans whenever the opportunity arises and do something new and meaningful.
